My Greatest Obsession: Travel!

From a young age, I was obsessed with learning about different cultures. I remember we had a culture day in elementary school and each parent brought a dish representing a different country from all over the world. I was fascinated with everything from Indian traditions to solving the Africa water crisis. I knew I would take every opportunity to explore the big space rock we call Earth.

Many people think you must have money, time, or be at a certain place in your life to travel. I believe traveling is a mindset. Exploring the world and connecting with other cultures is the most soul enriching experience out there. I was reading a book once called “Make Time” and they mentioned if something is truly important to you, you will always find the time to do it. I live by this idea. Once you make travel important, travel comes to you.

One question I get asked frequently is, “where is your favorite place you’ve ever been?” My answer to that is, “based on what?” If we are talking beaches, Hawaii has the best water and weather, but Florida has the best sand. If you want to know about mountains, Vancouver is gorgeous, but I love snowboarding in Colorado. The best trees, the red woods in northern California. Most organized, Austria, especially their public transportation system. Best coast for pizza, definitely east. Best coast for tacos, definitely west. The most adrenaline inducing environment, driving in Costa Rica (if you thought I-35 was bad, imagine traffic on the side of a slippery, winding hill, on a two way road with no guard rail…yikes!)

Here are some of my favorite places based on common questions.

Best Beach Best Food Best Architecture
Hawaii Ukraine Austria
Florida New York Kiev
British Virgin Islands Costa Rica Poland
