Current Events In Ukraine

As a frequent traveler, I think it is very important to stay up to date with the current events of the world and spread awareness. Back in 2021, I stayed in Ukraine for 3 months. In fact, if you look at the balcony above the red sign in the picture above, I had tea on that balcony every morning during my time in Odessa. I met many wonderful people in the beautiful cities of Kiev and Odessa. Unfortunately the Russia-Ukraine war has destroyed many lives in Ukraine.

The international conflict in Ukraine has forced millions of people to leave their homes in search of safety and protection. Russia’s massive assault on an independent Ukraine is upsetting to not only Eastern Europe, but to the human effort, to build global peace through the international law. Currently, the Russian forces are occupying the largest nuclear power plant in Europe on the border of Ukraine. The potential threat of blowing up this plant would not only be devastating to the city of Zaporizhzhia where the power plant is located, but also to Europe and parts of Asia as well. With a NATO summit on the horizon, Russia has pointed out that lots of allies will be close to the potential damages. This is another attempt to prevent NATO from offering a limb to Ukraine and an example of unruly actions Russia is willing to take.

Here are some things you can do to help.

This is an original song I wrote about a young boy I met in Ukraine named Pasha. Pasha was 18 years old when the Russian-Ukraine war began and he was drafted to fight. Unfortunately Pasha’s life was lost in the war. I wrote this song to honor Pasha and those who continue to fight today. Glory to Ukraine, Glory to Heroes.
